Learning outcomes

The objective of this course is to introduce students to basic concepts of microeconomics. The course also aims to raise students' interest in economic reasoning by illustrating how it can be applied to understanding everyday issues or events.

Content

The course follows a traditional approach, with the analysis of consumer behavior, producer production decision and finally the analysis of general equilibrium. Particular emphasis is put on formal reasoning and on applications of theoretical tools through multiple exercises.


Teaching methods

In-class course with powerpoint presentations available on the webcampus.

Questions and Answers sessions will be organized.

Discussion sessions are dedicated to exercices and clarification questions.

Evaluations

Continuous assessment (20%): MCQ/MAQ and exercises to be submitted on the webcampus at regular intervals
 
Final written exam (80%): Assessment is on a closed-book basis, with questions covering both theoretical aspects and application exercises. The type of questions includes open questions, multiple-choice and/or multiple-answer questions on both theory and exercises.
