At the end of this course, students will be able to explain the main features of 19th-21st century French literature and to situate the works of this period historically.
The course aims to provide students with:
- the historical and critical knowledge needed to understand the texts of this period in their context of production;
- the historical and critical knowledge needed to situate a literary work historically.
Study of the history of French literature from Romanticism to the first decades of the 21st century. In this first-year course, the emphasis is on the chronological frameworks and constant features that determine each century, or each period, of history, rather than on the examination of a particular work, genre, current or author.
