Objectives

To familiarise students with the functioning of banks and insurance companies in particular and their role in the financial system.

Content

The course focuses on the role of banks and insurance companies in financial intermediation. As such, the course is divided into 4 parts: 1- Role of financial intermediation in the economic system 2- Specificities of banks and insurance companies mainly 3- Financial regulation of banks 4- Management principles for financial institutions


Teaching methods

The course is based on: 1- Oral presentations, supported by PowerPoint slides made available to students on Webcampus 2- Readings of scientific articles allowing to deepen the different themes approached during the course.

Evaluations

The evaluation will be done through an oral exam (80% of the final grade) as well as a case study (20% of the final grade) to be carried out individually or in groups of maximum 3 students and dealing with one of the compulsory readings of the course.
