Language of instruction: French / Français

Learning outcomes

The course requires knowledge of the basics of molecular biology.

Objectives

The aim of this course is to provide a general overview of current issues in developmental biology, in particular the underlying molecular mechanisms.

Content

The aim of this course is to provide an overview of the issues raised in developmental biology and genetics, using various model organisms. The teaching is based on experimental data and the following model organisms are mentioned: Caulobacter crescentus, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Caenorhabditis elegans, Danio rerio, Mus musculus and Drosophila melanogster.

Prerequisites

Génétique moléculaire et génomique [MBIMB201] et Embryologie [MMEDB253]

Teaching methods

A number of speakers specialising in the various models on display will take part in this teaching by developing a question of interest. The emphasis is on the experimental approach.

Evaluations

The student is invited to choose an aspect (a model, a scientific question, etc.) mentioned in the course and to develop it critically, particularly in the general perspective of the course. They may also be asked to compare two models. A more general open question may also be asked.
