Learning outcomes

At the end of the "Introduction to literary analysis" course, students will be able to carry out a literary analysis of a chapter of a novel or a short narrative text (short story, microfiction, tale);

Content

The course includes

- theoretical teaching presenting elements of method and tools for analysing fictional literary texts (novels, short stories, tales and micro-fiction);

- modelling of the stages involved in analysing a literary fictional text

- practical analysis exercises carried out by the students.

Exercises description

The exercises are carried out in small groups and take place after each theory session. They enable students to review the material covered in theory in a different way and to practise using the tools presented by the teacher.

Teaching methods

Ex cathedra, with discussion time for the theoretical part; guided exercises in small groups for the practical part.

Evaluations

Three written assignments of increasing complexity will be completed during the year. The final mark will be provided by the weighted average of the marks obtained for these assignments (1/6 for assignment 1, 2/6 for assignment 2 and 3/6 for assignment 3).
