• Understand the main structural issues of ancient architecture; • Learn to observe materials and techniques; • Understand the main processes of transformation and implementation of the material; • Understand the relationship between architecture and the natural resources of its environment
The course covers the main techniques of structural and finishing work, from Antiquity to the end of the Ancien Régime.
The teaching units from one of the following lists:
Alternating between ex cathedra courses, combining powerpoints and didactic material, and in situ courses. In both scenarios, theoretical lectures alternate with observation exercises on ancient materials and techniques.
The marking will be a weighted average of the result of the oral examination, held during the June session, and the result of the exercises.
The teaching is based on a syllabus and a collection of texts.
