  • 1st quarter
Language of instruction: French / Français
Teacher: HENRARD Luc

Learning outcomes

State of the art numerical methods for the simulations of structural and electronic properties of materials.

Objectives

Understand and use numerical methods to evaluate the structural and electronic properties of material

Content

State os the art numerical methods for the evaluation of structural and electronic properties of matérials : semi-empirical methods (tight-binding) and Density Functional Theroy.

Co-requisites

Méthodes numériques pour la physique [SPHYM123]

Teaching methods

Individual lectures with frequent meeting with the teacher for the theoretical basics. A large part is devoted to the practical use of numerical methods.

Evaluations

Presentation of the results of the numerical simulation performed by the students in a written report.
