Objectives
This course aims to familiarize the student beginning the first degree in mathematics with formal aspects of the mathematical thinking.

Chap. 1: Logic and reasoning - Chap. 2: Sets: basic concepts - Chap. 3: Summation and multiplication symbols - Chap. 4: Some proof strategies - Chap. 5: Proof by induction - Chap. 6: The concept of correspondence - Chap. 7: The cardinality of sets.
Teaching methods
Ex cathedra teaching (4 hours/week) + Exercises (4 hours/week).
Evaluations
Written exam (3 hours - theory and exercises, see examples in the textbook).
