The objective is to let the students lead a research project as a team. The project includes all the steps of a typical GIS project, from the conception and data collection to the interpretation of results and conclusions.
During their project, students analyse a concrete situation for which the use of GIS is essential.
Team work on a societal question requiring the use of GIS.
The teaching unit includes 55h of practical work.
The practical work is divided in a mid-term intermediate report (1/3 of the final note), a final report and an oral defense of the work (2/3 of the final note). Students will be individually evaluated at the oral defense.
The evaluation in second session consists of a new personal version of the work, improved based on recommendations made following the first version.
