Learning outcomes

- A general knowledge on the biosynthesis and the synthesis of biologically relevant oligosaccharides (antigenic determinant, blood groups, cell/cell recognition and attachment factors etc...)

Objectives

The main objective is to provide a genral view on the chemistry and the biochemistry of carbohydrates : synthesis and biosynthesis, cell-cell binding processes, synthyetic vaccines, stereoelectronic effects and anomeric control during glycosylation reactions.

Teaching methods

Oral course with powerpoint illustrations.

Evaluations

Oral and/or written exam. A bibligraphic work will be individually prepared by each student and presented in the class.
