Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will be able to : • to join a teaching team in a secondary school; • to propose and present a sequence of lessons to a secondary school class; • to adapt its methodology to the teaching conditions; • to manage a laboratory session; • ...

Objectives

This activity has several objectives: • prepare and deliver chemistry courses under the supervision of course leaders; • adopt a reflective attitude on their teaching practices; • share the experience of the observation and active placement.

Content

This activity is divided into two parts: 1. Active work placement period (30 h). This internship is carried out in both the transitional and qualifying streams of secondary education. The student prepares lessons on the basis of the contents developed in the didactics and epistemology of chemistry course, submits them to the course supervisors and the didactics teacher for approval and finally implements them in lessons. The student is invited to prepare and teach a limited number of hours in a second discipline (biology or physics) 2. Seminars (5h). Students share the experience of the observation and active placement with their fellow students and didactics teachers.

Teaching methods

The lessons and preparations are discussed with the course teachers according to the competence-based pedagogy. The didactics teacher supervises one or more lessons during the active course.

Evaluations

During the active placement, each lesson is evaluated in a formative way by the placement master. At the end of the course, each tutor gives a mark based on a common evaluation grid. The marks may be modulated by the didactics teacher's assessment during supervision and portfolio analysis.
