Language of instruction: French / Français

Learning outcomes

Description, formalisation of intermolecular forces.

Objectives

The objective of this course is, on the one hand, to describe and formalize intermolecular forces, and on the other hand, to give examples of intermolecular interactions within macromolecular systems (proteins,...).

Content

Part 1 I. Basic introduction to intermolecular forces II. Functional representations of pair potential III. Nature of the forces between particles IV. Long-range phenomena V. Induction phenomena VI. Dispersion phenomena VII. Short-range phenomena VIII. Examples Part 2: Intermolecular interactions in macromolecular systems (proteins,...) I. Electrostatic interactions II. Hydrogen bonding III. pi...pi interactions IV. Interactions CH...pi, S...pi, pi-cation, pi-anion

Teaching methods

Part 1: lecture - blackboard support Part 2: Video slide presentation and open discussion with students.

Evaluations

The assessment consists of a single written examination covering each part equally.
