Learning outcomes

The student will be able to understand the current challenges of the health care system in terms of managing therapeutic innovation and to outline and critically interpret cost-effectiveness analyses of medicines.

Objectives

The objectives of the course are: -understand the context and rationale of pharmacoeconomics (the "why") -acquire the key analytical concepts used in pharmacoeconomics (the "how")

Content

The course presents both the context and the methodological outlines of pharmaco-economics


Teaching methods

18 hours of lectures + 2 hours of exam preparation. Some exercises will be carried out in collaboration with the students in order to illustrate certain concepts in a practical way.

Evaluations

Written examination. 

Recommended readings

The course slides as well as the methodological recommendations of the KCE (Belgium) and the HAS (France) are provided to the students.
