Learning outcomes

Study of the basic mechanisms of disease from a morphological and pathophysiological perspective.

Content

The aim of the course is twofold: to understand the why and how of diseases through the study of morphological and functional changes in cells, tissues and organs that underlie diseases and to familiarize the student with medical vocabulary. The different chapters are illustrated by examples chosen among the most frequent pathologies. The theoretical course is complemented by practical work intended above all to familiarise the student with clinical reasoning.

Evaluations

Identical examination in 1st and 2nd session. - Pharmacy students: Written examination comprising 3 parts: - a theoretical part: open-ended questions (14 points) - a practical part: identification of illustrations of pathologies (3 points) - a medical imaging part (3 points). - Students in biomedical sciences: Oral exam with 2 parts: a theoretical part and a practical part - Biology students: Oral examination on the theoretical part only The exact modalities of the evaluation are subject to change modified during the elaboration of the examination timetable, according to the practical constraints that the faculty administration may be confronted with, or in case of illness/force majeure/traineeship, preventing the student from taking the examination on the initially scheduled date
