Learning the anatomical-clinical approach, a privileged step in learning the diagnostic approach.

Content

General pathological anatomy is the study of the basic mechanisms of disease from the privileged, but not exclusive, perspective of macroscopic and microscopic morphology. It represents an early and limited foray into the subject matter of PhDs. The course covers, among other things, inflammation, necrosis, tissue deposits, tumours, wound healing processes, thrombosis and embolism, extemporaneous examination and medical autopsy... Each chapter is illustrated with examples taken from the corresponding list of diseases. The practical work extends certain concepts of the theoretical course and is especially intended to teach a logical structuring of the diagnostic approach.

Teaching methods

The teaching is carried out in a hybrid way: on the one hand, a lecture on the blackboard, with a support of slides (powerpoint), and on the other hand, a remote teaching, via video capsules in which the powerpoint is accompanied by an audio commentary. These modalities allow the student to actively participate in his or her own learning by discovering certain parts of the subject in supervised autonomy. Indeed, the lecture-based teaching allows regular contact with the teacher, making it easy to set up informal question-and-answer sessions. On the other hand, the practical sessions offer students the opportunity to deepen their thinking in the various fields covered.

Evaluations

Written theory-practice examination in June: theory (15 points) and practical work (5 points) The final score is the mathematical sum of the two scores. The two examinations are inseparable. In case of failure, both must be retaken. The exact modalities of the evaluation are subject to change when the examination timetable is drawn up, depending on the practical constraints that the faculty administration may face, or in the event of illness/force majeure/emergency with a placement, preventing the student from taking the examination on the date initially scheduled.
