Course 2024-2025

Cancer cell biology, including alternative methods to animal testing [MBIMB350]

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will be able to approach cancer from different facets and integrate these different facets (genetics, immunology, cellular and molecular biology, pathology, diagnosis and therapies).

Objectives

Integrate the concepts of genetics, immunology, cellular and molecular biology, pathology and therapeutics in the context of a major pathology: cancer

Content

Nature of cancer, viruses and tumours, growth factors and receptors, signalling, tumour suppressor genes, cell cycle, apoptosis, tumorigenesis, genomic integrity, angiogenesis and anti-angiogenic therapies, metastasis, cancer immunology, treatments

Co-requisites

Biochimie et biologie cellulaire IV [MMEDB244]

Teaching methods

45-hour lecture by a group of teachers with coordination

Evaluations

Written assessment of MCQ type and 2 open answer questions. The MCQ is worth 14 out of 20 points and the open questions are worth 6 out of 20 points.
