Language of instruction: French / FrançaisTeacher: Boonen Marielle
Learning outcomes:
The student will
- understand the theoretical concepts of centrifugation protocols used in the field of biomedical sciences
- know how to use these theoretical concepts to set up or adapt a centrifugation protocol
- be able to interpret the behavior of different types of biological material subjected to a centrifugation protocol
- To understand the main principles of analytical centrifugation
- To learn of to identify the parameters that control the sedimentation of biological particles subjected to a centrifuge field
- To learn how to analyze and interpret the behavior of proteins, protein complexes, lipids, vesicles, organelles and of cells subjected to centrifugation, under different physiological of pathological conditions
- To learn how to calculate the rate and time of centrifugation to apply in order to resolve cells, organelles or molecules
- To learn how to adapt centrifugation parameters (time, speed, type of rotor, ...) while maintaining the sedimentation behavior of the particles
- To learn how to analyze results presented as graphics
Lessons in a classroom (black board, power point slides). Some lessons are taught in French and others in English.
Pratical exercise sessions.
