Learning outcomes

The aim of this course is to enable students to improve and deepen their knowledge of the grammar, syntax, lexicon and morphology of the Spanish language in order to achieve a C1 level of receptive skills as well as a B2/B2+ level of productive skills of the Spanish language in its spoken and written dimensions. At the end of the year, students will also have acquired a solid knowledge of Hispanic culture and literature, through exercises and several readings of contemporary literature.

Objectives

At the end of the course, the student should be able to • understand factual and fictional texts (written and oral) • produce coherent and sophisticated texts on a variety of topics • in terms of oral production, communicate coherently and argumentatively in tasks requiring a direct exchange of information on a variety of topics. • identify and explain syntactic phenomena, particularly through the reading of literary texts

Content

Students will be encouraged to deepen their knowledge of the language through the study of the syntax of the complex sentence, and their knowledge of Hispanic culture and literature through a series of activities (readings, listening comprehensions, debates, dialogues, etc.).

Teaching methods

Lecture (15 hours) and exercises (60 hours) The theoretical course of 15 hours is devoted to the explanation of the syntax of the complex Spanish sentence. The practical course of 60 hours consists of : ° grammar exercises ° written productions (essays, summaries) and oral productions (dialogues and debates between students, presentations on cultural topics) ° reading and listening comprehension ° pronunciation and reading aloud exercises

Evaluations

• A partial written examination in January • One written and one oral exam in June • One written and one oral exam in August, if you fail the June session The weighting and assessment criteria will be presented in class at the beginning of the year and will be available on Webcampus.

Recommended readings

Syllabus available for sale at the beginning of the academic year Jean-Paul Vidal, Le Mot pour dire. Espagnol, Vocabulaire thématique, Paris, Bordas. Three novels, the titles of which will be given at the beginning of the academic year.
