Learning outcomes

This course is designed to provide students with a practical experience of field research so that they can apply the working methodologies taught in the courses relating to the fields and periods concerned. The two assignments should also enable the student to develop a broad and reasoned vision of a group of works or buildings.

Content

The student carries out two parallel projects: - an analysis of a work of art, from fields that vary from one year to the next: painting, sculpture, goldsmithing, stained glass, etc. Each year, a new theme and specific issues are chosen. - a formal analysis of medieval and modern architecture.

Teaching methods

Active and differentiated pedagogy, problem-based learning. Each student is accompanied in a differentiated way in his or her research process and communication of the results. In addition to the setting up of the space-time framework and the clarification of the methodologies to be implemented by the teacher, individual and collective work sessions allow for specific and effective monitoring of each student throughout the process.

Evaluations

The course is assessed on the basis of two written and illustrated assignments. Successful completion of both assignments is required to receive credit for this course.

Recommended readings

The specific bibliography is provided during the process of accompanying the work.
