Civic engagement [INFOB323]

  • 3 credits
  • 30h
  • 1st and 2nd quarter
Language of instruction: French / Français

Learning outcomes

The aim of this course is to make students aware of the following aspects :
- the place of the computer scientist in society;
- the meaning of their studies;
- the computer scientist they wish to become.

Students are also encouraged to:
- open up to society and dare to encounter an unknown or little-known reality
- give service in a new reality, by committing themselves to it, in order to become fully aware of it.

The development of softskills, in particular critical thinking, communication and reflective skills, is also at the heart of this course.

Objectives

- Reflect on your academic training project
- Reflect on the experience of commitment in relation to one's personal, civic and academic itinerary

Content

Citizen involvement offers students the opportunity to :

    1) take part in an associative project with social objectives, or in the project of a company involved in the social economy;
    2) to reflect on their personal, academic and civic itinerary.

It's up to the student to find a project to get involved in, for a period of 30 hours (5 days or 10 half-days). FUCID can help identify suitable places and provide some addresses.

The course helps students to give meaning to their university training project.

The proposed learning process involves a service experience in an unknown or little-known reality.

This experience will help students to question their educational project and their role in society as a computer scientist.
