  • 3 credits
  • 30h
  • 2nd quarter
Language of instruction: French / Français
Teacher: TUCI ELIO

Learning outcomes

The students will be able to illustrate and analyse the research findings in Experimental Psychology by contextualizing the empirical results within an historical perspective and by linking them to the corresponding theoretical framework. The students will be able to describe main concepts in neurophysiology, from the principles governing the transmission of the neural signals between neurons, to the illustration of the neurophysiological bases of sensation, perception, and cognition. The students will be able to draw links between research in Psychology, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics, through an analysis of common theoretical perspective and/or methodological approaches.

Objectives

This module aims to provide an introduction to the principle research areas in Experimental Psychology, from its foundation as independent subject in the XIX century to the analysis of the most recent findings characterising the post-cognitivist time. The empirical results are analysed from the perspective of the theoretical framework within which they have been produced. The module also illustrates basic concepts related to the neurophysiological bases of behaviour and cognition.
