Learning outcomes

The aim of this course is to bring students to a B1/B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Students will be encouraged to improve and deepen their knowledge of German grammar, syntax, lexicon and morphology according to their communicative needs. The course aims at acquiring a thorough vocabulary to enable students to read press articles and scientific texts in their field of expertise in order to pursue studies or participate in an Erasmus programme in a German-speaking country or to integrate into the professional world. The course is aimed at preparing students who would like to apply for a recognised certificate such as the Goethe Zertifikat.

Objectives

acquisition of B1/B2 level

Content

The course has several aspects: an extension of the basic vocabulary necessary to deal with everyday situations and specific areas according to the respective needs of the participants, a deepening of the grammar notions to improve written and oral expression, listening comprehension and reading comprehension.

Teaching methods

This course relies mainly on the active participation of the students. It is organised on the basis of two hours per week in a hybrid system (face-to-face and/or distance learning). According to a calendar provided by the teacher, some sessions will be replaced by personal work. Particular emphasis is placed on the participation and empowerment of students in the learning process. Students will be required to submit a personal paper at the end of the course, including a written version and an oral presentation. They will also be required to complete a portfolio which will allow them to assess themselves and any additional activities they may have undertaken to improve their language skills. Important: Particular attention will be paid to the distribution between face-to-face and/or distance learning hours via Teams and the credits allocated to the German course. A certain number of hours/credits will therefore be spent in class and/or via Teams with the teacher, the rest of the hours/credits will be devoted to the completion of personal work under the supervision of the students by the teacher (personal coaching).

Evaluations

A written test (70% of the overall mark) and an oral test (30% of the overall mark) will be organised in June. In the event of failure (less than 10/20), these tests may be repeated in August/September. An exemption will be granted for the part passed in June and the mark for this part will be carried forward for the calculation of the overall mark in August/September.

Warning : please note that the success of this teaching unit does not lead to certification.
