  • 16 credits
  • 0h+60h
  • 1st and 2nd quarter
Language of instruction: English
Teacher: Houssa Romain

Learning outcomes

Each student has to write a personal study project. This will be an opportunity to develop a topic related to the development problem with the background of the analytical tools acquired trough the programme.

Content

Topics vary a lot. In the past, subjects like the impacts of education on development, the impact of debt on growth, assessment of certain WTO rules ..... were developed. The question treated must be precise and discussion centred. The topic can be suggested by the student as long as it appears to be realistic and corresponds to the interests of a promoter. A list of potential topics will also be proposed by the promoters. The method adopted in the project varies also: from literature synthesis to data analysis

Teaching methods

Each student has a promoter and a tutor who both supervise and evaluate his project. Each student has to present his project to the class to promote interaction between students and help each student to adjust his analysis. The final paper counts more or less 20 pages and must be synthetic and rigorous.

Evaluations

The final copy must be handed before the June exams. Evaluation takes mainly into account the quality of the contents, but also the originality of the project and the clarity of the argument. The mark obtained has a weight of 15% in the global result.
