Understanding the sources of funds of a firm. Understanding the role of financial intermediaries and of financial markets. Applying theories of asymmetric information and of imperfect competition to the financial system. Understanding debt crises and debt relief, banking regulation, banking crises and monetary interventions.

Teaching methods

Weekly classes with extensive set of slides, possibility of class discussion of homeworks based on textbook chapters or on papers. Possibility of student presentations on current issues.
