Learning outcomes

A Master 60 final paper is conceived as the outcome of an original research project by which the student demonstrates a real capacity to understand economic reasoning, as taught in the Master courses, and its application to a specific subject. It is therefore a scientific work whose objective is to bring a precise economic analysis to a given problem.

Content

The dissertation requires a systematic approach that avoids the repetition of commonplaces and concentrates on the rigour of the argument, the presentation of different points of view and the justification of the theses put forward. This approach must begin with a statement of motivation: why is it important to study the chosen subject? What can be expected from such a study? The process continues either with a review of the literature or with a theoretical and/or empirical analysis of the problem studied. - A literature review. This should be as comprehensive as possible and should demonstrate the student's ability to understand scientific contributions, without necessarily having been the subject of specific teaching. - Theoretical and/or empirical analysis: the aim is to explain the theoretical foundations and methods used, and to justify the choices of modelling, analysis method or empirical application. The process ends with the development of relevant conclusions: in particular, an adequate interpretation of the results obtained and, if necessary, the drafting of solutions.
