Anissa Djelassi holds a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Mons and a master's degree in public and international law from the Free University of Brussels.
During the second year of her master's degree, she started an internship at the Equality Law Clinic of the Free University of Brussels, which allowed her to expand her knowledge in the field of fundamental rights with a practical and interdisciplinary approach. Her first thesis was entitled: "La Cour européenne des droits de l'Homme face au port du voile dans le monde de l'emploi : Plaidoyer pour une considération de la discrimination de genre".
Afterwards, she completed a LL.M. in European law during which she focused on the right to leisure for children with disabilities.
Anissa Djelassi is currently a researcher at the Faculty of Law of UNamur and is attached to the Centre Vulnérabilités & Sociétés. She is mainly interested in the way in which the law deals with religion.
Her PhD research focuses on the interactions between European, Belgian and British public authorities and religious and philosophical representatives. This PhD is part of the DIALOGUEREL research project funded by the Fonds national de la recherche scientifique (F.N.R.S.), headed by Stéphanie Wattier and Louis-Léon Christians.
Her other favorite topics are European law, equality and non-discrimination law, and fundamental rights in an interdisciplinary approach.
